The sun's rays are being scattered from tiny particles in the sky and this is creating the pink sunset which is bouncing off of the cirrus clouds. Cirrus clouds are made of ice particles and are typically the highest clouds in the atmosphere. There are also altocumulus clouds in the lower levels towards the center of the photo.
