The sun's rays are being reflected off of the clouds and creating vibrant colors along the horizon. There are also cirrus clouds and these are made of ice crystals and are located high in the sky (pink color). The darker clouds, blocking the sun, are altocumulus. "Alto" is latin for 'high' and "cumulus' is for 'heaped.'
